Duraweld are proud to have won the ‘Outstanding Business of Lockdown’, presented by the Scarborough Business Excellence Awards 2021. The innovation and expertise of our team helped manufacture more than 5.2 million visors that helped support frontline NHS staff and businesses across the UK. The ceremony was attended by more than 250 guests and a fantastic night was had by all. There were many deserving winners and finalists and it was great to see the dedication of businesses across the Scarborough area.
Meeting the challenge
The Visor project supplied NHS frontline workers with the essential PPE they urgently needed. It called upon the full participation of every team member across the whole business. It was a combination of can-do attitude, hard-work and innovation.
Our team worked closely with NHS staff, to design a visor that would provide comfort during long working shifts and across a wide range of head shapes. Once the Duraweld Face shield design was agreed upon, the team had to work at pace to get CE approval. It also had to meet strict health & safety legislation and medical grade standards before it could be manufactured.
